Well, well…what to say about this guy….Adrian is an incredible hard worker and is one of the strongest folks I have ever seen move a barbell. Stubborn and very modest by nature, Adrian chips away and has transformed over the course of less than two years doing CrossFit. I dare say, as he celebrated the big four-oh (40!!) last weekend, he might just be in the best shape of his life. He and Debbie both are an integral part of the CFC community and bring so much positivity and energy to the gym every time they show up. They are consistent with their nutrition and workouts and can be counted on day in and day out. Emma has also carved a part of each of our hearts out as she sits and plays while mom and dad bust out a WOD or three. What a happy, healthy environment they are exposing this lucky little girl to!
Now we can’t be all sunshine and roses here…Adrian loves a good chirp, both giving and receiving (read Bish here)….MOBILITY…need I say more?! He is working hard on getting there, but why would one learn to be fast under a clean when you could just reverse curl it? I watched a month ago Adrian PR his clean, stand it up to reset for the jerk…missed the jerk, caught it in the rack, composed himself and proceeded to PRESS it overhead to a lock out position…..did I mention STRONG…dude is strong all day long….Breaking massage therapists hands about town. It is rumored that Adrians massage therapist has resorted to a hammer and chisel and is making great in roads:)
Adrian has caught the competition bug, having competed in numerous regional CrossFit events over the past year or more. He just completed the Conquest Row’d Royalty on line competition and finished a very respectable 64th out of 277 guys who finished the competition in his division. - What do you do for a living?
I’m a part of the Senior Management team at Charlottetown Metal Products and my role is a blend between Production Manager and Project management pending on the day.
- How did you get involved in CrossFit and how long have you been CrossFitting?
About 2 years ago after trying to become a home gym warrior for years and seen people I knew from high school posting about something called “CrossFit” on Facebook. At the time caught my attention as I was in a bit of a rut in life and needed something to try outside of my basement. I did the typical thing and googled what it was, watched YouTube videos on it and said to myself “looks easy” thinking I was still the high school jock that I once was(so wrong). April 2014 I persuaded my better half to sign up and try out at least the fundamentals course.

- What are some of your goals in doing CrossFit?
Some of my goals in CrossFit to quote an elder gym member are “lift more, suck less” and ideally to improve my overall fitness.
- Biggest challenges and rewards of coming to the gym?
Biggest challenges for me besides the obvious “MOBILTY” are staying motivated and focused I sometimes struggle with the little things that are needed to improve and seem to require target to aim for in order to push myself.
The most rewarding thing that I have encountered don’t really have any numbers beside it, it’s more the community and the support that one receives every time ones steps foot in the gym. Even if you are having a shitty day there is always someone there that can make you smile or laugh and too me that’s what keeps a person coming back.
- Any results you would care to share?
Results for me would be an overall improvement and feeling like I’m not just showing up I’m able to compete at local events, I’ve even been told once that my squat was to low . Imagine that. (editors note…that was my words and wasn’t that the squat was too low, like ass on the grass no need to go that low Adrian, it was all about a butt wink issue I’m happy to say has faded away;) Can’t be having anyone think the coach was drunk that day.
- Favorite workout or movement?
Heavy Barbell movements and any benchmark workouts, rowing maybe somewhere on that list
- Least favorite workout or movement?
Any body weight ninja stuff
- Favorite music/song to CF to?
Definitely not Country, it just needs to be loud because the voices in my head tend to take over every once in awhile
- Anything else you would like to add?
CrossFit and the community that we are a part of have change my life in so many ways. I am healthier, happier and able to spend time with friends and family while being able to act like a kid again, what can anyone else ask for.
