Jenn has made tremendous progress during her time at CFC, showing some true grit and determination. Didn’t seem right to post a picture without her sidekick, bestie and most excellent motivator and training partner, Crystal! Their journey and commitment to fitness and each other is truly something to be admired and has made all the difference in getting through some tough training days together.
Today we get to know Jenn a tad better. There is a competitor emerging within her and it has been super fun to watch! The plunge into the 2016 open, Festivus and upcoming 782 competition…..We think she is just getting started.
Jenn is pretty modest about her accomplishments. She is a true pleasure to have in the gym. She is a big supporter of other athletes, especially Crystal…in a fun, friendly, gonna-kick-your-ass attitude kinda way!

1.What do you do for a living?
I am a Registered Nurse and the Director of Care at Andrews of Stratford.
2.How did you get involved in CrossFit and how long have you been CrossFitting?
Last summer I had been enjoying our Chef’s cooking way too much and needed to break that habit and get active again. I had been doing a bit of dieting that spring as well and I wasn’t feeling as strong as I normally did. Over the years I have been in and out of gyms and fitness classes, never really sticking to one thing long-term and I wasn’t interested in going back to anything else I had already tried. I had seen information posted about the upcoming September training camp and thought I’d give it a try seeing as it was something different and seemingly more intense than anything I had ever done in the past. I now know why I didn’t follow through with other training programs on a long-term basis – the community of CFC and the intensity of the weight training and cardio is something that I’ve absolutely loved and this is officially the longest, most consistent training that I’ve ever done and I’m loving every achy minute!
3.What are some of your goals in doing CrossFit?
My most challenging goal is going to be chest to bar pullups and toes to bar; I look forward to gradually moving out of the scaled movements where possible. I’m also looking forward to doing more competitions with the goal of making it to that podium!
4 Biggest challenges and rewards of coming to the gym?
The rewards are many: Hitting PRs, building endurance, beating Crystal haha The best one though is seeing new muscles – I know they’ve always been there so it’s awesome to finally meet!
I can’t pinpoint one main challenge at the moment….wait, I take that back – pushups! But really, I find every class challenging so it’s a long list as well!
5.Any results you would care to share?
I’m pleased with my PRs and aim to hit one each month. When I started back in the fall deadlifts were included in one particular workout and I think we were working at about 60% of 1RM and some of the gals were using 150# and I was in awe and thinking how the hell can that be possible! I’m pleased to say my deadlift is now also in that same weight range And I’m also especially happy with my 5k run time for the April challenge.
6.Favorite workout or movement?
I love the overhead movements, especially push jerks. Box jumps and wall balls are alright too.
7.Least favorite workout or movement?
Um, right now that would be running! I think my ultimate hate is for burpees.
8.Favorite music/song to CF to?
Anything upbeat and really loud!
9.Anything else you would like to add?
